“Southwark Cabinet meeting on 7 June

Southwark Cabinet meetings are open to the public.  The next Southwark Cabinet meeting is on 7 June. Most of these meetings are in open session and occasionally confidential items are discussed, for which the press and public are excluded, right at the end.

A resident or business ratepayer of the Southwark may ask one written question (limited to 50 words) on any matter in relation to which the council have powers to the cabinet meeting. The question must be received three working days in advance of the meeting (for 7 June, midnight 1 June) by Paula Thorton (contact details below) or Virginia Wynn-Jones (council officers).  These questions are asked at the beginning of the cabinet meeting and the leader or relevant cabinet member will respond to the question. A supplemental question may be asked at the discretion of the leader. So whoever wants to ask the question should aim to come along to the cabinet meeting in order to ask the question, if possible.
The agenda and other information can be accessed on this link  http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=302&MId=5147&Ver=4

Unfortunately, the time set aside for public questions is only 15 minutes.  If people submit questions about the aspects of the proposed development of Canada Water which concern us, this could help focus the minds of the cabinet on those concerns?  For example, if there were questions about the leisure centre and if there was large turnout from members of the who oppose the centre which is currently ‘preferred’, the Cabinet would then perhaps get a sense of what the local population feels??

Contact Paula if you have any queries about the meeting. The meeting will be take place on 7 June at 4pm, Ground floor meeting rooms, 160 Tooley Street, London SE1 2QH.

Paula's contact details on the link above.

Any questions need to be sent in advance to the email(s) listed for the contact people.

Questions have to be submitted in advance and by the end of tomorrow (1st June) .
Thank you.
